About Being a Tutor

Anyone can be a tutor at Pacific Linguists Club. As a tutor, you'll be able to help foreign language students that are learning your native language through casual conversation video calls. With an estimated 1.5 billion people in the world learning the English language, you can help improve the speaking, listening, and conversational skills of these students as a native speaker.

You decide when you want to be available and students book appointments with you. Each appointment is for a 15 minute video call using WhatsApp or Line. You decide whether to provide free appointments or paid appointments when setting your schedule. A paid appointment will cost a student $5 to book, $4 of which will paid to you after subtracting $1 in fees.

1

Create an account.

Create an account and set your WhatsApp or Line phone number. This number will remain private, and shared only with the students who booked an appointment with you.

2

Complete Tutor Setup.

After creating an account, users can complete Tutor Setup and start tutoring right away. Tutors are required to have both WhatsApp and Line installed on their phone to reach more students around the world. Both apps are entirely free to use over Wifi.

Become a tutor here after creating an account.

3

Connect a PayPal account (optional).

Connect a PayPal account to receive payments for your paid appointments. With the click of a button, you can receive the payments for all paid appointments students have booked with you.

4

Set your schedule.

Decide when you want to be available for tutoring. Select any 15-minute timeslot throughout the week to be available and delete appointments at any time. Decide if you want a timeslot to be a free or paid appointment.

5

Wait for a student to contact you.

When a student books an appointment with you, he or she will be provided with your phone number. They will send you a text message to say hello and to notify you of the appointment time. At the time of the appointment, the student will give you a call.
